The Seven Sorrows of Milk
In honor of the feast of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, I tried to make sure that I was eating food in honor of her title as the Most Sorrowful Mother. Hence, for breakfast I ate the blackest cereal I could find at the South Campus Diner: Count Chocula (sp?). And as I was eating it, and the milk was turning blacker, it made me think about how during Mary's life, the sorrows that St. Simeon foretold just just adding onto each other one at a time. And, as I ate my cereal and the milk turned blacker and blacker, I couldn't help but think that this is just one of those examples of how Mary had to suffer more and more. But, when I finished my cereal, and all that was left was the milk, it made me realize that no matter how much suffering we endure, a martyr's death would make it all worthwhile. And so, I drank the black, black milk!
