Ignorance Plagues Society
What strikes me with my Renaissance history class is noth my professor's disgust for the Catholic faith (which I expect at this school), but rather the ignorance of many of my fellow classmates. At the outset of class for the semester, there were a lot of people who knew a lot about the general stuff that was introduced to the class. But, as the class has moved on, there are people asking, "Isn't the Pope supposed to be a virgin?," or "How many Popes had relations with women?" While I wish that all Popes were virgins, the Church teaches that they should be celebate, as all priests should. And with 265 Popes, it would be very hard to know exactly how many had been unfaithful to the Lord. I would at least like to hear some intelligent questions, if they plan on bashing the Church. But, I guess it goes to show that those who really don't understand the Church are the ones who hate it the most.
