A Successful Walk

My summer has not come to an end, but a small part of it has just rounded up. We, the Northeast Crusade for Life, have just finished walking from Augusta, ME to Washington, DC. It was a wonderful two months in which we spread the Gospel of Life in an effort to protect the babies in the womb and Christ in the Eucharist. It was wonderful, there should be an interview of me online soon. There are others from the other walkers and the other two walks at the Crusade for Life website.

But the real point of the entry wasn't to post about our successes but moreso to write about our day today at the Planned Parenthood in Washington, DC. First, it must be noted that during this summer, we didn't get much opposition. Boston and New York slept through our journey, excluding Governor Pataki of New York, a pro-abort Catholic politician (he was on Fox News, and we stood behind him with the backs of out shirts showing the words "You Cant' Be Catholic and Pro-Abortion"). But, today was much more fun.

We found out that there was a group of pro-choicers who were going to protest us at the abortion clinic this morning. Fr. Gareth Jones, a wondergul priest from Wales, celebrated Mass for us at the conclusion of our walk, and in his homily he spoke of keeping our cool with the opposition. It just so happened that he knew exactly what to say to prepare of for today.

The angry, foul mouthed pro-choicers were nothing short of irate. Their chanting, yelling, cursing, fingers, etc., reminded me of the March for Death, aka, the March for Women's Lives, and all the hate that filled the air. The disrespect these men and women had for everyone around them showed the clear contrast to our prayer. Being that we made it a point to keep our minds and mouths calm after hearing Fr.'s homily yesterday, there was a clear distinction between our simple words and their shouting. It once again proved the point that the fear of the "angry pro-lifer" is so far from the truth. There might have been a time when those in the pro-life movement showed the same kind of anger, but now the tide has turned, and those who support abortion have become everything they spoke out against and continue to shout about. Hopefully there will be some video fotage online of it soon so that if you don't believe me, you can see for yourself.

Truth can be hard sometimes, but when it is, you often realize that you need to rethink why it is hard.

God bless you and your efforts. I'm so glad the Crusade is growing, and God willing I'll be able to go next year.

The young and the orthodox are reclaiming the Church from those who enjoy the fruits of the Culture of Death.
