Weird Comments

It seems that a lot of people think that if they tell me that I have a nice blog, then I will allow their comments. This is the case if the comment is actually about my blog. In fact, I'll let comments stay up that attack my blog as well. That is of course if the comment is actually about the blog and not just a cover up to plug their credit card company, their loan company, or their astrological sign reading company (that was the worst of all them).

I've found that as of late, being in the past two weeks, that there are a lot of people who try to plug their companies through my blog. Now, I don't know how many people actually read this blog, but I don't think it is enough to help their company.

The worst is when they do it in the name of the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina. I let one stay up a while ago because it was a link to site to find missing people. But, when they say something about "I'll tell other people about your blog, and please pray for the people affected by Hurricane Katrina and let them know how they can get free credit cards. Check out such-and-such a site." That is disgusting. It is painful for me to take away their comment, but they have the wrong idea of relief efforts (just as Planned Parenthood does). If you are really trying to help the relief efforts, then don't worry about plugging your company, worry about how people are going to live. And don't use me as a medium to do so (unless you are trying to help provide people with the necessities of life - this does not include condoms or credit cards).

Being that today is the feast of St. Peter Claver, the Apostle to the Slaves in the West Indies, we need to keep in mind that many, many people were affected by the hurricane, not just the rich or poor, but everyone. We need to continue to pray for their health (physical and spiritual) and well-being. Continue in any way to support the relief efforts. And continue to pray for them.

St. Peter Claver...pray for them.
